         Weatherbury Farm Kids Program

In an increasingly urban society, children no longer are able to experience the joys of life on the farm or know where food comes from (honest, eggs don't come in Styrofoam containers from the supermarket!). The goal of the Weatherbury Farm Kids Program is to give children an educational and fun introduction to farm life.

Families who are invited to participate in the program. The families receive a packet (filled with coloring & activity books and educational materials) about farming and every child is invited to earn the "Official Weatherbury Farm Kid" designation. Younger children do chores and complete a picture worksheet; older children have fun doing chores and learning with our "Farm Workbook."

There is no charge to participate in the Weatherbury Farm Kids Program.

For more information on the program, chores and to see all the children who have participated, please visit our kids page.

         Folk Music on the Farm

When you visit Weatherbury Farm, you'll hear the music -- birds singing, tree frogs chirping and geese honking. So it seemed the perfect place to hold folk music workshops, not to mention the acoustics in the Livery Hall where the workshops are held are fantastic!

Workshops in autoharp, lap dulcimer, hammered dulcimer and penny whistle are offered at the beginning, intermediate and advanced level. Loaner instruments are available.  A super slate of nationally renowned folk musicians teach the courses. To learn more about our workshops, please visit folkmusic.weatherburyfarm.com.  Non-playing spouses, children and friends are welcome.
