"We're staying in the Carriage House, one of three two-story suites in the newly renovated guest barn that's perfect for the four of us. First is a living room with two sleeper sofas, a gas fireplace and plenty of running-around room. Up in the old hayloft area, the bedroom boasts one queen and one single bed -- which our three-year old immediately claims as her 'big-girl farm bed' -- covered in charming, worn-soft lines of red-and-cream ticking and Laura Ashley florals. An ancient trunk hold extra pillows and blankets, while the bathroom has a real claw foot tub and a pull-chain toilet (a big winner with our recently potty-trained preschooler)."

The Carriage House may have been an early addition to the Livery as its interior downstairs' wall (as it stood originally in nearby Washington, PA) was sided in clapboards. The large outside sliding door suggests that it may have been a carriage house. Certainly, in later life, it did serve as a garage for the farm family.

The downstairs living room is the largest of the three suites and with its red walls and white trim provides a perfect background to display oriental furniture, art and souvenirs the Tudors have collected on their travels. The 2 inch oak planks, joists and beams are original and the suite is heated by a gas burning fireplace. Two full sleeper sofas provide additional sleeping accommodations.

The upstairs bedroom, with sunny white walls and red trim, has a cathedral ceiling, rising 18 feet. There is a queen jenny lind bed with red toile bed linens and a twin bed. The floors are the original yellow pine flooring from the hayloft. The bedroom opens onto a deck over-looking the pasture.

The bathroom (also on the 2nd floor) has old fashioned clawfoot tub with a shower and pull-chain toilet.

Upstairs in bedroom: 1 queen bed, 1 twin bed
Downstairs in living room: 2 full sleeper sofas.

The Carriage House has individually controlled air conditioning with ceiling fans. Heating is provided by the gas burning fireplace downstairs; there is also an upstairs wall heating unit. There is a small refrigerator in the living room for guests' use.
